Quilting Books Under $4

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

We used antique blue canning jars as the flower centerpieces at my parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration.  They're were super sweet with daisies and babies breath!  If you love blue canning jars, here's a deal for you.  Annie's has real Ball blue canning quart jars on sale for just $4.99 for a set of 4!  These are the real Ball jars!  I don't know how long the sale lasts or how much inventory they have, but I do know this is a great buy!

When looking through patterns at Annie's, I found all of these books less than $4!  These aren't single patterns either; they're actual, printed-in-color books!    I love the idea of quilts from 3 yards of fabric or 6 fat quarters.

Annie's is also having a Super Sale with 30% off over 750 pattern downloads.  Use the keycode SOAKUP to be sure you get the discount.  {the discount likely doesn't apply to books on clearance}  This discount ends August 16th.

Let me know which books you pick up!

Custom Queen 30s Basket Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My finish is a custom queen size 1930s reproduction basket quilt.  This is the third quilt I've made for this customer!

I used a jelly roll of 30s Playtime 2017 to create the basket flowers because it was the most cost effective way to get a snippet of the entire collection.  It was the first time I've used two strips sewn into a tube and then cut into HSTs.  They end up with bias edges, but that wasn't a problem for the tiny HSTs.  I wonder if this method for larger HSTs would be problematic, however.  Probably nothing a little starch wouldn't solve.

I was so excited when my customer agreed on the Baptist Fan quilting design that I suggested.  It would have been a common quilting design on a quilt in the 30s, though of course done by hand and not a computerized quilting machine.

Quilt Stats:

Pattern:   Basket Quilt, layout designed by me in EQ7, though of course the basket block is an antique block.
Size:  Queen 95" square.
Fabric:  30s Playtime 2017 by Moda
Quilting:  Baptist Fans on Gratitude.
Batting:  Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly
Backing:  Toy Chest 2 by Riley Blake
